We wish you much happiness as you prepare to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony.
Who can get married at the parish? Anyone eligible to marry within the Roman Catholic Church is welcome to celebrate their marriage at our parish. The couple must understand and accept the Catholic Church's teachings regarding the Sacrament of Matrimony. We are ready to assist in the process of obtaining an annulment for a previous marriage. A wedding date cannot be set until the annulment is obtained. How much does a wedding cost? The contribution for a wedding is a donation of $500 (this does not include church decorations or music). A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required and must be paid during your initial appointment with the priest or deacon. Full payment is required at least one week before the wedding. How do I schedule a date? The initial wedding interview must take place at least SIX months prior to the wedding date. A wedding date can be scheduled following a successful interview with the priest or deacon. Please call the office at 773-521-8400 to schedule an appointment. Weddings take place on Saturdays at 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM. Are you already civilly married? Is the cost of a wedding difficult for you? Throughout Scripture, marriage is viewed as a sacred "mystery" instituted by God. It speaks of marriage’s divine origin and purpose (conjugal love, procreation), as well as how it has been lived out and transformed throughout salvation history. The difficulties that sin has introduced into married life are also acknowledged. Yet in Christ, marriage is renewed and sanctified, especially within the framework of the New Covenant between Christ and the Church (see Ephesians 5:31–32). Marriage: A Sacred Vocation Marriage is not merely a social institution or a civil contract, but a sacred vocation inscribed in God’s loving design for humanity. In the Christian faith, marriage is a response to God’s call to faithful, generous, and enduring love—open to the gift of life and sustained by the grace of the Sacrament. To live out Christian marriage is to walk a path of holiness and communion, wherein spouses become a visible sign of Christ’s love for His Church. |
